Tempos Company:
Tempos Company is a Contemporary Circus in Portland, Oregon. We combine circus arts with dance and physical theater to create dynamic, and expressive shows. We are looking for experienced dancers, partner acrobats, tumblers, aerialists, movers, and physical theater performers for our 2023/24 season. We have two mandatory rehearsals per week. Thursdays from 4-7 pm, and Sundays from 5-8 pm. We put on one full-length production per year and might take on other smaller projects. Our season runs September-April.
Tempos Training Company:
Tempos Training Company is a nine-month pre-professional circus skill and physical theater program designed to lead students through Tempos’ creative and skill development process. The Training Company meets as a cohort for three full group rehearsals per week on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings. Training will focus on partner acrobatics, dance lifts, ground movement, handstands, active flexibility, dance and physical theater integration. As the season progresses we allot more time for the show creation process. The end of the nine months culminates in a full-length show directed by Tempos coaches and created collaboratively between the students and coaches.
Aside from the 3 full group rehearsals, students have access to pro-gym time each week.
TTC’s season runs October- June, $425/month
Toss Collective:
Toss Collective is a group of performance artists collaborating on a short timeline to create new works to be performed in collaboration with other Portland artists. In 2025 Toss Collective will be creating a 30-45 min ensemble show to be performed alongside Common Threads in late March. Depending on skills and interests, participants contribute as performers, choreographers, and directors. The focus of Toss Collective is on creative movement, imagery, and piece/show development. Tempos’ directors and choreographers will act as facilitators of the process.
Group rehearsals are held on Sundays from 1-4p and Wednesdays from 7:15-9:30p. Wednesday’s rehearsal includes Dance lifts class.
Aside from group rehearsals, Toss Collective has access to Tempos for open training time and is offered a reduced rate for public classes. Keeping up ones individual skill level in their craft is required.
Toss Collective runs September 4th-April 27th, $240-300/month depending on the chosen track.
